Max Verstappen hopes to join Senna and Berger with a victory with Honda in Japan
The Japanese Grand Prix is a special race for Max Verstappen as it is where he made his Formula 1 debut aged just 17. He has had some good results here but has never won and that is his ambition this weekend at Honda's home Grand Prix.
Many drivers are looking forward to the race this weekend as they really like the old school circuit.
“It's a very nice circuit to drive, but I generally love Suzuka anyway. It is a special place for me. I made my debut here when I was just seventeen and that is a memory I will never forget," Verstappen said.
Honda are hoping to really impress in front of their home fans and Verstappen wants to win the race here too.
“I already achieved good results at Suzuka with third and second place, but never a win. So we would like to go one step higher."
If Verstappen does win the Japanese Grand Prix with the Honda engine then he will become only the third driver to do so with the Japanese engine. Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger are to only two drivers to win the race with a Honda in Japan.
