Seidl looks to lock down P4 in Suzuka
McLaren technical director Andreas Seidl says that his team are looking for a strong weekend at Suzuka Circuit as they aim to extend the gap to Renault F1 team and secure fourth place in the constructors' standings.
McLaren have broken the 100 point barrier for the first time since 2014 and sit 33 points ahead of Renault, but Seidl is not taking anything for granted and has reiterated that they must keep working hard to secure the position.
He said: “Although we head to Suzuka with an increased lead over our midfield competitors in the Constructors’ Championship, we are mindful that we still have work to do to lock down this position.
“The competition for these positions is very close, and can change over the course of a single weekend.
“From our side, we must focus on keeping the battle in our own hands, and that relies on maximising our on-track performance and trackside operations.”
