Jenson Button admits it was the "right time" to leave Formula 1 in 2017

One-time Formula One world champion Jenson Button has admitted that he's got no regrets about the time in which he finished in F1. The 39-year-old called it a day in the sport in 2017 after a 17-year career which included 15 race wins and 50 podiums.

The Brit featured for several different teams across his career, including Renault and McLaren, entering 309 Grand Prixs in total.

" A lot has changed in my life since I left Formula 1 and for the better, " Button told Sky Sports.

" It was the right time to leave, even though I see the cars on track and love seeing them and hearing them I do miss it.

" A lot has happened since I left F1."

Button accumulated 1235 points across his career with his first race win coming in Hungary in 2006.
