"Everyone wants Leclerc, Leclerc, Leclerc"
Jacques Villeneuve believes Sebastian Vettel is on the wrong side of the positive energy at Ferrari and feels everyone is backing Charles Leclerc. This comes after Vettel ignored team orders at the Russian Grand Prix.
Four-time World Champion Vettel overtook Leclerc in the opening stages of the race in Sochi as they looked to beat Mercedes to a one-two. However, Vettel refused to give the lead back to his teammate insisting Leclerc had to catch up before they did the switch in the pit stop phase.
Vettel eventually retired with an engine issue but it has caused some tension amongst the Ferrari camp. Villeneuve feels that everyone is behind the youngster Leclerc and that Vettel is on the wrong side of the energy.
"The energy is not right," Villeneuve told Motorsport-Total.com.
"Everyone wants Leclerc, Leclerc, Leclerc, the media, the fans ... and you cannot do anything about that.
"It does not matter how well you drive, you're on the wrong side of the energy, and if it's like this, you're suffering for a while, that's a law in this sport."
