Japanese Grand Prix tyre selection: Drivers avoid the hard compound
Pirelli have revealed the driver's tyre choices for the Japanese Grand Prix. The top teams have all opted for similar choices. The white, hard compound is not really used by the teams with only the Racing Point drivers, as well as George Russell and Nico Hulkenberg, opting for a second set of the hardest compound.
While the Mercedes drivers take an extra (fourth) set of mediums to Suzuka, Ferrari and Red Bull go to Japan with one more set of softs (nine sets).

Hulkenberg has chosen only one set of mediums, in addition to the two sets of the hard compounds. Hulkenberg's teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, also has ten sets of softs, but prefers an extra set of mediums instead of the white hard tyres. Haas also opts for ten sets of softs for the Japanese GP weekend.
