Ross Brawn on Ferrari's "explosive combination that needs careful handling"
Ross Brawn has had some experience of managing Ferrari. From 2000-2004 Brawn led the Italian team and Michael Schumacher to World Championship success. The now F1 Managing Director is qualified to have an opinion on the current situation going on at Ferrari.
There is an obvious tension at Ferrari with four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel being outperformed by youngster Charles Leclerc and the whole team orders situation. Brawn believes that there are issues that need fixing.
“Ferrari has clearly made a lot of progress in recent weeks but it still probably has to deal with a few internal issues in terms of the balance between its drivers,” he said to the BBC.
“It’s a potentially explosive combination and needs careful handling.”
Brawn believes that there is a lot of pressure on Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto to keep the team together and keep performing.
“Now the honour and obligation falls to him to make sure that mechanism that drives what can be healthy rivalry runs smoothly,” he said.
Ferrari have had a solid run winning three races since the summer break. Binotto will hope to continue to manage the situation between his two drivers and that they can win again in the final stint of the season.
