Fernando Alonso looks forward to adapting to yet another Motorsport discipline
Fernando Alonso is enjoying his first season away from Formula 1 since the early '00s. But the Spaniard hasn't been sitting back and resting. Instead, Alonso has been desperate to try his skills in different areas of motorsport and this time he takes part in a rally raid testing ahead of the Dakar Rally.
The two-time Formula 1 world champion was unable to find the third piece of the motorsport triple crown in May when he failed to qualify for the 2019 Indy500 after previously winning Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix.
In preparation for the January 2020 Dakar Rally, he has been testing the Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux in the Lichtenburg 400 in South Africa as he looks forward to testing his ability in another type of motorsport.
"Being able to adapt to different things has been my biggest strength of my career, in Formula 1, so why not adapt to the total motorsport, not only Formula 1. At the moment we are evaluating (in rally-raid) and its been a good challenge," Alonso told Wheel24's, Sean Parker.
"You can be the best driver in Formula 1, the best driver in rally, the best driver (sic) in MotoGP, but if you can be the best driver in everything that will be even better. So that’s the challenge," said Alonso.
It doesn't seem like Alonso is missing Formula 1.
