David Coulthard has a new job: President of the BRDC
David Coulthard MBE has been elected as the President of the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC). The former Formula 1 driver is often busy broadcasting for Channel 4, taking part in demonstrations for Red Bull or working with the W Series as an ambassador. But the Brit now has another job to juggle.
Paddy Hopkirk MBE took over the role in 2017 and agreed to hold the position for two years. At 86-years-old, Hopkirk has stepped down from the role and Coulthard comes in to fill his shoes.
The chairman of the BRDC, John Grant, believes Coulthard will be a successful president and help the club to grow.
"I and my fellow Board Members are delighted to welcome David Coulthard as President of the BRDC. We are confident that, in David, we have a President who is not only a greatly talented racing driver but also a successful businessman with an enviable network of contacts in the motorsport world which, together with his experience, should be of great benefit to the Club," Grant said.
Other former drivers who led the BRDC include Damon Hill (between 2006 and 2011), Jackie Stewart (between 2000 and 2006) and Derek Warwick.
