Jacques Villeneuve: "A terrible weekend for Albon," despite making up 15 places!
Jacques Villeneuve says that Alex Albon was lucky to come home fifth as he took advantage of the safety car to make up places during the Russian Grand Prix.
Albon crashed out in Q1 and started from the pitlane, and put in some good overtaking moves in the second part of the race to equal his best finish in Formula 1, taking 10 points away from the Sochi Autodrom.
However, Villeneuve was not impressed with the Thai driver's efforts, telling Sky Italia: "It was a terrible weekend for Albon, without the safety car he would not have gotten further than a fourteenth place. He was lucky."
Villeneuve also had some harsh words for DRS, adding: "The DRS does not help the races. The length of the cars does not really matter when overtaking, it is the aerodynamics that make it very difficult. If you drive close behind your predecessor, the temperatures of several parts of the car get very high, which means that you soon to take another distance."
