Carlos Sainz enjoyed fight with Mercedes cars early in Russian GP
Both McLaren cars were engaged in a battle with the Mercedes cars during the opening few corners of the Russian Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz went on to praise the team for yet another best of the rest finish as they seemingly claim the fourth place in the F1 world championship.
With Max Verstappen on his charge through the field, Sainz attempted to hold him off. But the Red Bull Racing car had enough power and performance to get past. That doesn't bother Sainz too much in this situation.
“Very good race. A great start and a very solid execution from everyone today. It was great to fight the Mercedes into Turn Two, which was one of my targets today. From then on I could control the race and I had good pace all the way through, even though it was impossible to hold both Red Bulls," Sainz said.
“This was not an easy weekend for us, but we managed to put it together and take another best of the rest finish. Great performance from the whole team and double points again. Congratulations."
