Alex Albon: "Tailwind caught me out" in Q1 crash
Alex Albon says that he was caught out by the tailwind at turn 13 as he spun and crashed out of Q1, causing him to be knocked out in the first session and he will start near the back for the race on Sunday.
Albon will start down in 18th for the race at the Sochi Autodrom, but has already shown in his short Red Bull career that he is able to drive through the field, as he took P5 on his Red Bull debut in Belgium last month.
Speaking to Sky Sports following his accident, the 23-year old said: "Nothing really to say other than I just went in a bit hot. When these cars go, they go quite quick so it’s frustrating. There’s a tail wind there and it caught me out."
When asked about whether he can rescue it in Sunday's race, he added: "We’ll see, race pace we did a bit in FP3 and it didn’t go too badly. We’ve given ourselves a difficult target to start the race with but we’ll see."
