Franz Tost says Daniil Kvyat “will continue” with Toro Rosso in 2020

Toro Rosso team principal has revealed that Daniil Kvyat won’t be making a return to the Red Bull and “will continue” to drive for the sister team leaving them to choose between Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly.
Kvyat, taking part in his home race at Russia this weekend, made a return to the Formula 1 grid with Toro Rosso after being demoted from Red Bull in 2016 and dropped by the sister team towards the end of 2017.
The Russian was unable to find a seat for 2018 but spent it as a Ferrari development driver behind Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
But the call was made to bring him back to Toro Rosso alongside Albon while Gasly was promoted to Red Bull, only to be dropped over the summer break after a string of poor performances by the team’s standards in comparison to Max Verstappen.
Many thought the 25-year old would replace Gasly but Albon was selected to review for the remaining races this year and now Tost has confirmed that Kvyat will remain at Toro Rosso.
“He will continue with us next season,” Tost said in Russia.
Kvyat himself isn’t too concerned about what has been said about where he may be next year, stating he is just “glad” to be on the grid next year.
“I hear a lot of statements and people saying different things, but I am glad that I have a place in Formula 1 next year,” Said Kvyat.
“I love Toro Rosso and if I drive here more, it will be good.”
