Alex Albon may only be in his third race for Red Bull Racing but Helmut Marko may have just hinted at a longer spell amongst F1's elite for the Thai driver.

Albon only joined Red Bull during the summer break as he replaced Pierre Gasly and he achieved P5 and P6 in his first two races. His and Gasly's swap was made to determine which one would race alongside Max Verstappen in 2020.

Although many already expected Albon to get the seat, Marko may have given the biggest hint yet that Albon will race for Red Bull next season. He revealed some of the criteria for Red Bull's 2020 driver and it seemed to revolve around a certain Dutchman and suggested Albon was well placed.

"I think he [Max] needs a teammate who is very close to him and I think we found it with Albon. He is doing very well so far and is steadily improving," Marko said in an interview with GPUpdate.net.

"You must not forget that he has never been here before and he is by far the fastest rookie on this track so far.

"But it is also important for the team that we have a strong teammate alongside Verstappen, with a view to the championship."
