FP1 report - Max Verstappen fastest in Singapore as Valtteri Bottas crashes out
Max Verstappen has topped the timesheet in FP1 at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull looked really fast through the corners of the street circuit and the Dutchman set a time of 1.40.259. The session saw a Red Flag when Valterri Bottas crashed at turn 19 causing damage to his Mercedes.
FP1 started with the Charles Leclerc topping the timesheet but it wasn't for long. Bottas, Hamilton and Verstappen all enjoyed some time at the top and it seemed that the cars were all very close.
Ferrari replaced Leclerc's floor which took some time and but the Ferrari looked fast with Sebastian Vettel finishing the session in the top two.
It was hard to judge who was the fastest team as Mercedes spent much of the session using the hard tyre compared to the other teams who were on the softs.
With around 30 minutes to go the session was Red Flagged after Valtteri Bottas crashed after going to fast into turn 19. The Mercedes locked up and hit the barrier causing damage to the front and rear of the car.
Sebastian Vettel ended the session in second and will hope to build on the performance in FP2 this afternoon.
