Hulkenberg admits F1 deal must be right if he is to stay!
It looks as if Nico Hulkenberg will miss out on an F1 drive in 2020 but the German has admitted he'd still like to race in the pinnacle of motorsport but isn't desperate.
Hulkenberg missed out on a Renault seat after the constructor opted to go with Esteban Ocon as Daniel Ricciardo's partner next season. He had been widely tipped to take up a Haas seat if they got rid of one of their drivers. However earlier today Haas confirmed Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen would keep their places.
It leaves Williams as the only remaining option for Hulkenberg but even that looks unlikely with Nicholas Latifi favourite to take over from Kubica. Hulkenberg admitted he still harbours hopes of driving in F1 but he isn't desperate if the deal isn't right.
"As much as I want to continue in Formula 1, for me, it needs to make sense," Hulkenberg told reporters as reported by PitPass.
"It needs to be sensible, it needs to be the right deal. I'm not desperate to stay in Formula 1 and just take anything.
"I'm not disregarding or disrespecting Williams.
"I mean generally, globally, even with Haas now. That for me, that is the most important thing for me.
"I think you see and understand for yourself what is still available, which seats and which not. I think that's pretty obvious. Right now, I don't know. I think it's to an extent out of my control now, out of my hands. So the most important is to drive and to perform."
