Preview: Singapore Grand Prix - Start times, odds and predictions!
The night race in Singapore is one of the most visually appealing of the season, with cars flying around the Marina Bay street circuit under the huge LED lights, creating a brilliant spectacle for fans. A regular on the calendar since 2008, it sits at a critical time of the season as the European leg ends and the run in to the end of the season begins.
Last year
A typically action packed Singapore Grand Prix of 2018 saw Lewis Hamilton really take a dominant grip on the title as he won for the fourth time in five races. In a display that was not expected, Hamilton took an incredible pole position and got a better start than second placed Max Verstappen to race off into the night and take the win.
There were two separate clashes fro Sergio Perez, firstly with his teammate Esteban Ocon at turn three, forcing him into the wall and out of the race, and then with the Williams of Sergey Sirotkin, in a difficult race for the Mexican.
Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel came home second and third, and Fernando Alonso's seventh place was his final points scoring finish in his F1 career.
What to expect this year
Usually we come to Singapore and expect Ferrari dominance, however this year, it isn't looking that way. The Italian team has got great straight line speed this season, but could struggle with the slow speed nature of the Singapore track.
Mercedes have struggled in heat this year, as seen in Austria and Belgium, where they failed to take wins, so despite their history at the circuit, winning four of the last five races, they aren't as fancied as Red Bull, and particularly Max Verstappen, who could be set for a third win of the year as he looks to reignite his battle with Valtteri Bottas for second in the championship.
The midfield is always difficult to predict, but don't expect another incredible showing from Renault. Following their 22 point haul in Italy, confidence will be high at the French team, but on a very different track, Renault may not be so competitive.
