Alex Albon: "I’m learning what the car needs to be quick"
Alex Albon has had a few races for Red Bull now but the British-Thai racer has admitted he is still learning how to set his car up correctly. Albon has looked fast in the car but without the winter testing period, he has had little time to get used to all the detail of driving the Red Bull.
"There were moments during the weekend where I felt good in the car. Even before the final run in [final practice], I was feeling really good. Still understanding the car sometimes I want certain set-up directions done and actually, it’s not the right one, just because I’m learning what the car needs to be quick," Albon said to Dieter Rencken.
"But overall it’s not been too bad. I’ve been quite happy with it. Still some work to do on the long runs. But even qualifying [until] the last run pace was actually OK. Maybe not Charles [Leclerc] and Lewis [Hamilton] pace but we were definitely in the fight for scraps, [fourth, fifth, sixth] and so on."
Albon will hope that he can continue impressing at Red Bull and hold onto the seat for 2020.
