Todt full of praise for leader Leclerc!
Charles Leclerc is in a great spell of form and he has caught the eye of FIA President, Jean Todt who compared his leadership to that of F1 great, Michael Schumacher.
Leclerc stepped up to Ferrari for this season, despite only having one season in the pinnacle of motorsport under his best having raced for Sauber in 2018. He replaced Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari with the Finn moving in the other direction joining, the newly named Alfa Romeo Racing.
The Monegasque had a mixed start to his Scuderia career but he has won the two races after the mid-season break and established himself at the top table.
At the start of the season, Sebastian Vettel was the preferred driver, but after Leclerc's victories, it may have changed. Todt described Leclerc as a natural leader and compared him to an F1 legend.
“Charles is extremely strong mentally,” Todt told Auto Bild.
“He has the makings of a great champion and the same natural way to lead a team as Michael Schumacher once did. He represents the future of Formula 1 and Ferrari.”
