Alex Albon asked to wear new helmet: "Every detail counts!"
Formula 1 is a sport about fine margins and this is nothing new but Red Bull always seem to go the extra mile. During today's practise sessions Alex Albon was spotted in a new helmet and it has been revealed that Adrian Newey thinks that a different hemet would be more aerodynamic.
"I'm not Adrian, so I can't say much about it, but the team has indeed asked me to try this helmet," Albon said to Motorsport-Total. "In Formula 1, every detail counts. It doesn't change anything for me, nowadays all helmets have to comply with very specific regulations, so they all look alike when you put them on.”
Albon used to use a Bell brand helmet with Toro Rosso, but Red Bull asked him to try an Arai helmet at Monza, the same brand that Max Verstappen uses.
Max Verstappen used a Schubert helmet at the start of the year but has now also changed brand. Adrian Newey apparently takes the shape of the helmet into account in his design and proves that every detail counts!
