Vettel and Leclerc react to Monza's contract extension: "It's our biggest race"
Sebastian Vettel admits he's "very happy" to hear the news of the contract extension for the Italian Grand Prix. On Wednesday evening, Formula 1 confirmed the show will continue to visit the Monza circuit until at least 2024.
With Ferrari being based nearby, it's always a big race for those driving the Ferrari car. With all of the fans watching, Vettel acknowledges how big the race is for himself and the team.
"I'm very happy. I don't know if I'll be here for five years but it belongs in the calendar so I'm happy it was confirmed. It's not necessary to mention the important for Ferrari, it's the biggest race of the season and for me, it has a lot of memories with my first win here in 2008," Vettel said during the press conference.
Charles Leclerc is heading to his first Italian Grand Prix in Ferrari colours. He's hoping he'll get more opportunities to complete the feat over the next five years. The man from Monaco heads to Monza having won his first Formula 1 race last weekend.
"I'm also very happy. Driving for Ferrari it feels very special. I'm very much hoping I will be here in five years time!" Leclerc said after Vettel's answer.
