"Max Verstappen won because he wanted it more than anyone else"
Red Bull are working together with Honda for the first time. Things are going pretty smoothly after a transitional period at the start. ExxonMobil are also part of the collaboration as they provide the fuel and an engineer describes how well their relationship works.
"The first win with the new collaboration was, of course, a great boost. Whether you look at ExxonMobil, at the factory at Honda or at Red Bull itself, it's great for everyone to do something like that. In addition, the people at ExxonMobil are very happy and therefore we too, because we only benefit from a good cooperation between ExxonMobil and Honda," says Paul Monaghan an engineer at Red Bull.
"We must continue to take steps to make it even more difficult or even to beat our competitors. It differs per Grand Prix of course, but on some courses, we can already dominate."
Max Verstappen also makes a huge impression on the engineer. "It is a revelation as he came to us. Winning his first race, then you are a phenomenon. His advance in Austria was also very strong and he won because he wanted it more than anyone else," concludes the engineer.
