Carlos Sainz believes there's not enough top cars for "good drivers" in Formula 1

Carlos Sainz Jr. believes there are not enough "good cars" for all of the "good drivers" in Formula 1 and admits that is "very frustrating" for the drivers who will never have a realistic shot of winning a world title in the sport.
Despite there being 10 teams on the Formula 1 grid - the top three (Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull) tend to dominate proceedings and have done since the start of the hybrid era in 2014.
For some drivers, there will never be an opportunity for a realistic title shot in F1, and that is something that McLaren driver Sainz is very aware of and also really frustrated with.
Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have both driven well this season, with the former particularly shining, and the two youngsters have had some breathtaking battles that have lit up some races - specifically in Austria and Great Britain.
Asked whether he'll ever be having those intense battles with the duo whilst still in a McLaren, the Spaniard told Autosport: "I hope McLaren can build a car to one day have Lando (Norris, McLaren team-mate) and me fighting these guys that you mention.
"I think Formula 1 can change a lot in 2021. And to already make the assumption that it's going to be a Verstappen-Leclerc... that's what we're going to have in 2019 and 2020 for sure, but in 2021 Formula 1 can change and suddenly the people who are going to fight could change perfectly.
"If Verstappen is in the right place at the right time, he will win several world championships. This is a very frustrating part because the sport does not depend on the athlete. So it's not a 100-metre sprint where the best wins. I still think the best are normally in the best cars, but I don't think there are enough good cars to feed all the good drivers in Formula 1."
