Seidl: "There are other areas where we are fairly competitive"
McLaren are in a very strong position as they sit fourth in the Constructors' Championship with a 39 point lead over their nearest rivals. However, Andreas Seidl is happy with the bigger picture.
McLaren's all-new lineup of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris has done a good job for the Woking-based team and have really strengthened their grip on best of the rest during the races prior to the mid-season break.
Although their car has made a lot of progress Seidl believes their showing is down to more than just the vehicle itself.
"We are currently fourth and that is great, but that is not only the performance of the car itself," Seidl told Motorsport.com.
"The performance of the car was on average between the fourth and the sixth place on the grid, but there are other areas where we are fairly competitive, such as the starts, the pit stops, good strategic decisions and good drivers.
"That has earned us points, while other midfield teams have a harder time. We are always between fourth and sixth in one way or another, while other teams have experienced more ups and downs."
