Charles Leclerc has revealed some of the qualities that he would take from MercedesLewis Hamilton to improve his own driving would be to do with his consistency on track each race.

Leclerc entered only his rookie season in Formula 1 last year with Sauber (now Alfa Romeo Racing) before being promoted to a seat at Ferrari alongside Sebastian Vettel.

The Monegasque has impressed this season, claiming his first pole position of his career in Bahrain before engine issues lost him the win, and going wheel to wheel trying to fight off Max Verstappen in Austria before losing the lead.

But Hamilton has once again dominated the season with Mercedes, as they have done since the hybrid era began, and Leclerc has highlighted some aspects of the brit’s racing he would take.

Leclerc said to Corriere della Sera: "Consistency. The ability to always know how to reach the maximum. Mental strength.

"Everyone can make a good lap, the difference is putting so many together in the moments that count. I'm training so much to succeed."

Despite missing out on a possible two wins so far this season Leclerc feels happy about how it has gone with Ferrari and how he has grown with them as well as what his personal life has been like since joining the Scuderia.

"I find it hard to give myself a rating, but to be honest I'm happy," he added.

"It was not an easy challenge to join an important team in the second year of F1.

“I needed to adapt in the beginning, but I grew fast with the team. I must continue to focus on weaknesses and improve.

"On a personal level: people recognize you around.

"From the professional point of view it pushes you to go beyond the limits, to take care of the details as much as possible."
