Questions might be raised as to whether Ferrari should cut their losses on their 2019 Formula 1 car and focus more on their challenger for the 2020 season. But Mattia Binotto claims the Italian team will continue to develop their current car for the time being.

Ferrari trail rivals Mercedes by 150 points in the Formula 1 world championship. Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc aren't just chasing Mercedes either, Red Bull and Max Verstappen are hot on their heels. If Verstappen's teammate was performing at a similar level, Red Bull would be at least within touching distance of Ferrari.

Binotto believes any kind of development on the SF90 should come in handy for the 2020 F1 season and for that reason the team won't stop developing just yet.

“First, I think that whatever we can do in the current season will be to the benefit of the next one, so I don't think we should stop at any stage the development on the current season, because again, I think [it] can be passed over [to 2020]," Binotto told Motorsport.com.

“But we need to organise ourselves for 2021, no doubt. We've got now some responsible [people] in the technical department, and together with them we need to carefully take our decisions relative to the priorities.”
