Mexican Grand Prix an opportunity to showcase culture
The promoter of the Mexican Grand Prix believes the event is an opportunity to showcase the countries diverse culture. The race was confirmed for the calendar until at least 2022.
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Mayor of Mexico City announced the news on Wednesday that the race was here to stay and on Thursday evening Formula 1 confirmed the news revealing we can expect to see a race in Mexico until at least 2022.
This comes after months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the race and it was expected to be scrapped in favour of the Dutch Grand Prix, especially after funding was cut.
However, the news will be a big relief for many and the promoter of the event has been speaking about the culture on show.
"Through this international platform, we have the opportunity to showcase the diverse cultural wealth of this fantastic city," Alejandro Soberon, the CEO of CIE said.
"We look forward to welcoming the thousands of tourists, both domestic and foreign to this award-winning event.
"In addition, I want to thank the Formula 1 fans both in Mexico and abroad - without a doubt, your energy and passion has made our Grand Prix a very unique and special experience.”
