Indy 500 winner Simon Pagenaud would like to test Formula 1 car
IndyCar driver Simon Pagenaud was a guest in the Reanult motorhome during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Indy500 winner had to the chance to wave the chequered flag, but he would like to do much more!
The Renault team created their own triple crown last weekend. Daniel Ricciardo - winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, Nico Hulkenberg - winner of Le Mans, and Pagenaud completing the set with the Indy500.
The experienced Frenchman says he would love to be able to test a Formula 1 car in the future.
"I would like to test a Formula 1 car," he tells RMC. “I would like to try to feel what these cars are like. It would be very cool, but that doesn't mean it will happen. Moreover, Roger Penske [his current team boss] needs to agree."
Although a Formula 1 experience looks unlikely, a European return doesn't. In the past, Pagenaud was part of Le Mans team at Peugeot and he wouldn't mind a return to finish what he started.
"I would like to go back to Le Mans to finish what I started. I love Formula 1. I was here in Hungary to visit friends and meet people. Renault was kind enough to invite me. It was nice, but for the time being my future is with the IndyCar," he added.
