Live | Formula 1 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix FP3 - Will Red Bull clinch P1 again?

3 August 2019 at 09:00

It's the final practice session ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Formula 1 action was limited yesterday as rain during FP2 put drivers and teams off. More rain is forecast to fall today, including the chance of a thunderstorm. (liveblog below)

Before the rain started to fall yesterday, Pierre Gasly managed to post a quick time, as did Max Verstappen to give Red Bull a 1-2 at the top of the timesheets. Verstappen also finished second during the first practice session as Lewis Hamilton went fastest with a 1:17.233.

In both sessions, Charles Leclerc failed to finish in 5th or above. Sebastian Vettel did slightly better in FP1 finishing third but the rain kept him in P13 for the afternoon session. It might not be time for alarm bells just yet, but Ferrari will need to get some confidence in FP3.

The best of the rest is as tight as ever with neither team setting a serious marker down. But Renault does look stronger than they have been during previous races.

Alex Albon will be starting his weekend again today after a heavy shunt ended running early in FP2 yesterday. The mechanics needed to perform a full rebuild on his Toro Rosso car
