Red Bull team principal Christian Horner feels Mercedes is ‘going to be tough opponents’ at the Hungarian Grand Prix because of their impressive slow-speed corner ability.

Slow-speed corners used to be a big weak point for Mercedes in previous years, but this season proves to be different and has been one of their strongest areas this year.

Horner believes Red Bull have a chance at the Hungaroring due to its technical nature, but very wary that Mercedes could redeem themselves from their disappointing German Grand Prix.

The Brit said to Autosport: “Hungary is a track we enjoy going to.

“But Mercedes’s slow corner performance is pretty mighty, and I think they’re going to be tough opponents.”

“We have been getting more performance on the car.

“The chassis’ been getting better, the engine’s been getting better and I think we have got some good stuff in the pipeline for the second half of the year.

“We’ve got stable regulations from 2019 into ’20, so whatever we learn this year applies to next year.

“So we want to keep the trajectory going the way we are.”
