Prost shows sympathy for Sebastian Vettel "that extra pressure does not help"
Sebastian Vettel hasn't got it easy right now. There are questions other whether he'll retire, leave Ferrari, and if his home race will drop off the calendar. Mix that in with a Ferrari car which can't match Mercedes and a few unforced errors. Alain Prost, four-time Formula 1 world champion, shows sympathy towards the German driver.
“I certainly think that extra pressure does not help. The pressure of 'will he stop or not' and the rumours about his future. To be honest, I think it is a very difficult situation for him to deal with," the Frenchman tells French Canal +.
“In my view, his collision at Silverstone (with Max Verstappen) happened due to a lack of judgment. We clearly see that he is not in top form and is trying to immediately take back a position that he has just lost. Logical, but it is a manoeuvrer that is quite difficult and that carries a risk. That it fails is of course not good, but I think it is due to lack of sufficient concentration, motivation or judgment," Prost concludes.
Vettel says he is waiting for more clarity on the 2021 rules and regulations before making a decision about his own future. But in the meantime, it seems as if Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are too far in the distance, and instead, he's left to fight his old team, Red Bull.
