Vettel has his say on the current crop of F1 cars
Sebastian Vettel believes that the current set of Formula 1 cars are some of the best he has driven at high speeds but when racing at lower speeds, they are some of the worst he has experienced.
Vettel has experienced over 13 years of cars, starting off his career with BMW Sauber before a hugely successful spell with Toro Rosso and Red Bull and he has had the last five seasons in the red of Ferrari. The German believes that cars in today's races are most enjoyable at high speeds, but when they are slower it is the polar opposite.
Vettel has given thoughts on the weight of the cars and would like to see a change in how heavy they are. As quoted by Crash.net Vettel said: "High speed they are top of the class but at low speed, I wouldn’t say bottom of the class but they are just too heavy.
“It is something I don’t like. I think a Formula 1 car that I got to know first was very exciting throughout the speed ranges and the race turned out to be a sprint race which was great because you could push throughout in the car and the tyres every lap."
Vettel also feels that this means some races are managed more than others, adding: "That has changed a bit and we are managing some races more and some races less. Simply, you enjoy the races you don’t have to manage. You can go flat out."
