Claire Williams rules out replacing Robert Kubica
Robert Kubica only has his teammate George Russell to fight against. He's lost virtually every battle during the 2019 Formula 1 season, but Claire Williams isn't getting frustrated with the man who returned to the sport after an eight-year recovery.
Speculation about replacing Kubica with Esteban Ocon has grown, but Williams ruled this out. "We're not thinking of replacing Robert this season," Williams is quoted by Spain's El Mundo Deportivo. "The speculation is frustrating because unless you really know what's going on inside a team, you do not know what's going on," she said.
"Our relationship with Robert is as good as ever. He is focused, doing what he has to do and we're trying to help him by giving him a better car. We're not frustrated at all."
But she couldn't give any detail about Kubica's seat beyond the 2019 Formula 1 season. Sergio Sette Camara, a leading driver in Formula 2, has been linked with the seat over recent weeks.
"It's too early to start talking about 2020. We are not yet in a position to make any decisions. And that won't come until the third quarter of the season," she added.
