Steiner unable to comment on Rich Energy tweet

Guenther Steiner has refused to comment on the current situation between Haas and Rich Energy after the energy drink company tweeted that they were cutting ties with the Formula 1 team.

On Wednesday a tweet from the official Rich Energy Twitter account seemed to confirm that the two would be parting ways because of the poor results this season and the current politics of the sport. However, that has since been denied and Rich Energy are expected to continue as their title sponsor.

It is reported to have been a rogue tweet potentially authorised by CEO Williams Storey tweet, however, Steiner revealed he wasn't in a position to talk about the current situation.

“Sorry guys, I would like to tell you more, but I cannot. I hope you respect that," Steiner told reporters ahead of the British Grand Prix.

“I don’t want to put anybody in a difficult situation but I cannot say anything about it. [Rich Energy] will be on the car this weekend, and then the rest, we need to sort out going forward what we will do.

“Our commercial agreement does not let me talk about it, and I don’t want to. So there is no point stirring it up more. It is what it is.”
