Vettel: There's something special about racing at Silverstone
- Bobby Vincent
Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel has dubbed Silverstone a "special" circuit ahead of his return to the track that he won at in 2018.
Lewis Hamilton started on pole position last season at his home circuit, but a spin at Turn 2 saw Vettel take the lead from his championship rival. The German had a really entertaining scrap with Valtteri Bottas towards the latter stages of the race but managed to reach the chequered flag before anyone else at Silverstone.
Vettel's season this time around is no way near as competitive; with the four-time world champion yet to win a race this campaign - likewise his Ferrari team. However, Vettel still clearly enjoys the infamous circuit.
"Racing at Silverstone is something special for all the drivers because it's such a cool track," Vettel said. "There are a lot of fast sections. It is also very technical, especially in the first part of the track with the new corners.
"To be honest, I still prefer the old parts with the fast flowing turns. There is one of the most epic corner sequences in Formula 1 on this circuit, with Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel leading onto the Hangar Straight. I think every driver enjoys that part and I certainly do."
