McLaren have been blisteringly fast this season and their drivers, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz have really stood out. The team are comfortably fourth in the Constructors Championship but team boss Andreas Seidl believes that if they are to bridge the gap to Red Bull they will need to take more "risk".

“I’m a guy who encourages people to take risks," Seidl was quoted by Crash.net. "To protect them when something goes wrong you have to accept that mistakes are happening.

“For sure, you should try to prevent them in the first place, or you should make sure they don’t happen a second time. But with the position we are in, we need to take risks.

“But to do that you also need to have a certain confidence again, also inside the team, a certain culture, and spirit. And I think that’s something we have to build up now again together. Not saying that it’s too bad."

McLaren have always been a strong team and their history in the sport should give them the confidence that they need to make bold steps and take some risks.

“I was really impressed when I started with all the good results already this year. How positive the atmosphere was and how good the momentum was which was there. And it’s just important now to keep going in that direction.”

McLaren will look to impress at their home Grand Prix at Silverstone which is coming up next weekend. They will also need to keep one eye on the teams behind them as in an ever competitive midfield it wouldn't take much for another team to overtake them in the standings.
