In the build-up to the Austrian Grand Prix, Bernie Ecclestone produced a long list of ideas which he would introduce to Formula 1 if he was still in charge for the 2021 season. Toto Wolff has responded to these plans and believes it's all typical of Bernie!

Ecclestone wanted to introduce a third world championship and refuelling amongst other things. He would virtually leave the top three teams alone, but give the rest of the field a car, with an engine and $30 million.

These plans were aimed at helping the teams further down the field without introducing a budget cap. The Mercedes boss could only laugh about the plans!

“That's just how Bernie is: Always provocative. This is nothing else. He has always been this way and has called things that were completely different than reality. I think he is now trying to get the same thing done: provoking people."

"Have I read his plans? The first few lines perhaps, but that was it," laughs the Austrian in conversation with Motorsport-Total.com.

Ecclestone has had a secret meeting with Racing Point owner Lawerence Stroll and Wolff about setting up their own class.
