These are the changes Nico Rosberg would make to modern Formula 1
Formula 1 is coming under constant scrutiny. The bosses are trying to solve the issues with a rule and regulation overhaul which will hit the sport in 2021. After Bernie Ecclestone explained what he would do if he was still in charge earlier this week, Nico Rosberg has dropped his own four-point plan.
The 2016 world champion might be happy to see his former team, Mercedes, to have the 100% win record during the 2019 Formula 1 season. However, he has the fans in mind and says the most important thing is to change the aerodynamics.
“If you drive behind another car, you lose about 50 per cent downward pressure. That makes it impossible to properly follow and overtake other cars," Rosberg explained to RTL.
"The cars that run with a full tank are just like trucks. This makes them three seconds slower. The teams must be able to refuel again "Moreover, thanks to the sensors would now be much safer."
"I hope they find a solution whereby the smaller teams also have a chance. Unpredictability is what the sport needs."
After speaking about refuelling, aerodynamics and making the race winner unpredictable, Rosberg goes back to the tyres. He says Pirelli should make the tyres more unpredictable so the teams don't know what they're going to get.
“Then the teams cannot formulate a precise strategy. Then we can see great things happening on the circuit," Rosberg added.
