Max Verstappen "not here to be fourth" and calls for Red Bull to speed up
Max Verstappen has said that he wants Red Bull to improve as he is "not here to be fourth" but expects that things will take a while to change. The Dutchman is hopeful that his current team will turn things around but he has said that he "wants to win races" and will look to move teams if Red Bull can't offer him a race winning car.
When asked about how long he would give Red Bull to improve, Verstappen said that performances in the upcoming races were more important.
"To be honest," he said to Sky Sports F1. "I think it's more important to just see what the team also will bring in the upcoming races. I'm not too worried about what's going to happen next year, or even beyond that.
"At the moment I just want to focus on this project because I think there is still a lot of potentials and we are just getting started.
"But, like I said, I don't want to keep on driving until I'm 35 for fourth, so we'll see.
"I'm not here to be fourth - I want to win races. It's not nice to drive around at this fourth spot, always just missing out, but it's how it is at the moment.
"We just need to keep pushing hard to try and get more performance out of the car, but also out of the engine, at the moment."
Verstappen would be an attractive signing for most teams and Red Bull will hope that they can improve and keep hold of the talent that is a Max Verstappen.
