Marcus Ericsson called up for Alfa Romeo Pirelli tyre test
It has been reported that Marcus Ericsson has been given the opportunity to drive for Alfa Romeo during the 2020 Pirelli tyre test next week. The test provides Formula 1 teams to give their input on the tyres and what they feel about the development of the new compounds. Ericsson will relish the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car again and will hope to impress the team during the test.
Ericcson has had a past in Formula 1 having driven for Sauber from 2015 to 2018. He has been Alfa Romeo's third driver and has also started a career in IndyCar but will hope that he can get his way back into F1.
Pirelli have faced a large amount of backlash for their tyres this year and there have even been calls for them to return to last years compounds. It is therefore vital for the company that they get the tyres right for the 2020 season to avoid further criticism.
