Vettel: "I am not frustrated"
Sebastian Vettel has witnessed Mercedes' dominance first hand. At times in 2018, the German led the Formula 1 world championship, and he must have expected at least a good fight in 2019 particularly after pre-season testing.
The four-time world champion hasn't won a race for 10 months. Famously, in Canada, he was on for the race win but was penalised. Despite all of this, Vettel claims he isn't frustrated.
"I am not frustrated. It is not like we had 15 races to win and we didn’t win them, then I’d be frustrated. We did the best we could and I think arguably this year I think we could have had two shots so far, and one obviously Charles had a troubled race and I wasn’t there in that race, and the other one at least we crossed the line first but I think we covered that," Vettel said after the French Grand Prix.
"I think it all depends when looking back but generally, I’m pretty happy with the races I’ve had. You always think you could do a bit more here and there, but it is not as if we have dominated the past 15 races."
Whether new life as a married man has relaxed Vettel or he's just playing it down in front of the media, who knows.
