Binotto disappointed with stewards' decision to reject appeal
It hasn't been a great day for Ferrari and Mattia Binotto has spoken of Ferrari's disappointment following the steward's decision to reject their appeal against Sebastian Vettel's penalty from the Canadian Grand Prix.
Ferrari were given another crack at appealing the decision but the stewards didn't feel the evidence they presented was strong enough to overhaul the five-second penalty. The appeal was regarding the incident that saw Vettel run off the track at turn four during lap 48 of the Canadian Grand Prix.
Mercedes secured another dominant session at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, topping FP1 and FP2 as they look to secure an eighth consecutive win.
Ferrari's appeal including presenting the analysis of Karun Chandhok was soundly rejected by the stewards adding another twist in this remarkable set of events.
Binotto told the press of his and the team's disappointment saying: "No doubt that as Ferrari we are all very unhappy and disappointed.
"We're disappointed certainly for Ferrari, but we are disappointed for the fans and for our sport."
Binotto refused to go into detail regarding the incident, adding: "We do not intend to comment any further."
Ferrari will be hoping for more luck as the weekend goes on, but they face an uphill battle with Mercedes in control.
