Verstappen: “Everyone’s talking for their own interests"
Max Verstappen believes that everyone involved in Formula 1 is talking about regulation changes with their own interests in mind rather than that of the sport, suggesting one person should be in charge of matters.
Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull to an extent are completely dominant in Formula 1 given their superior power compared to the rest of the field, with part of the 2021 changes aimed at making racing tighter and more competitive. With the deadline for 2021 changes being delayed until October, progress seems slower than ever.
Verstappen wants to avoid all the politics and the drama and suggested that there needs only one person to do the job.
“Everyone’s talking for their own interests," Verstappen told De Telegraaf
"Teams who are not doing so well at the moment want different regulations but then maybe they have less of a say in the matter.
“If you area Ferrari engine customer, you are obviously with Ferrari, and if you are a Mercedes customer team, then you are with them.
"There is so much politics behind all of this. There should be only one person at FOM or the FIA who says: OK guys, this is how it is.”
