Daniel Ricciardo reveals what Sebastian Vettel was like as a team-mate
Daniel Ricciardo joined Red Bull at a time where Sebastian Vettel had dominated for the previous few seasons winning four world championships with the team. The then young Aussie came in and learned a lot from the German and impressed fans a lot by managing to pressurize him and even establish himself as the faster driver.
"I was excited for the challenge," Ricciardo said on Nico Rosberg's Beyond Victory Podcast. "The on-track challenge but also to see how he worked off track. He pays a lot of attention to detail and I think he lives and breaths racing. I felt like he didn't have many other hobbies. It was pretty much racing and he was really absorbed by it.
"He was firm but not disrespectful. If something wasn't good enough he would say "we can do better." He was direct but still was kind and shook everybody's hand. He had an impressive work ethic."
Ricciardo will have taken the lessons learnt from that relationship and used them to develop himself into the driver he is today.
