Berger believes Binotto is the right man for Ferrari

Former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger has issued his support to under-pressure team principal of Scuderia, Mattia Binotto.
Prior to the 2019 season, Binotto was promoted to the team boss at Ferrari, following Maurizio Arrivabene's departure from the Italian team. Results have not been ideal for Ferrari, who are a considerable distance behind Mercedes, despite arguably having the more powerful power unit.
Speaking to Formula Passion, Berger remains positive about Ferrari's future and believes Binotto is the right man for the job, despite being under huge pressure following Mercedes' six successive victories at the start of the 2019 season.
"The appointment of Binotto was correct," Berger claimed. "Ferrari had changed after the departure of Montezemolo and Domenicali, it was no longer the team I knew. Now with Binotto in charge, he has rediscovered the team's DNA, but these things take time and they need to stablize."
Despite the before-mentioned fact about how dominant Mercedes have been at the start of this season - Berger remains optimistic that Scuderia can win this season, thinking that would take the immense pressure off.
"I am convinced that a victory would be enough to take a bit of pressure and turn the season arond for them," Berger added. "For what they showed in Baku, I was convinced they can have a say in the world championship but then, beyond the mistakes; they didn't have enough speed in Monaco.
"I still can't get an idea of their true potential. Certainly, if they want to fight for the world championship, they must stop making these mistakes."
