Verstappen gets two penalty points on licence for Bottas incident during Monaco GP
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen has received two penalty points on his racing licence on top of the five-second penalty he received in-race for the pitlane incident with Valtteri Bottas.
The Dutchman had a lightning-quick pitstop at the same time as Bottas during the Safety Car period early in the race, and the two came out side-by-side driving through the pitlane.
Verstappen eventually made Bottas yield at the end of the pitlane, but the stewards deemed it an unsafe release from Red Bull and Verstappen, and penalised the 21-year-old with a five-second penalty.
He crossed the line in second place but because of the penalty ended in fourth place, bumping Bottas up to third.
On top of the penalty in-race, the stewards have now awarded Verstappen two penalty points on his racing licence as well. For the collision with Hamilton at the end of the race, no further action was deemed the outcome by the stewards.
