Billy Monger wins first race since horrific crash
British racing driver Billy Monger has won his first single-seater race since his horrific accident by winning the Euro Formula Pau Grand Prix. Having had both of his legs amputated in 2017 after a crash in an F4 race, Monger has managed to get back to racing and is now back to winning ways.
The race was hectic and Monger showed great skill and tactical ability to win. The Carlin driver made a risky decision to pit for wet tyres earlier than others but it paid off as he was able to gain places rapidly.
A late incident involving Julian Hanses and Liam Lawson who were leading the race saw the two drivers take each other out meaning that Monger could drive to claim the victory.
He managed to defend the pressure from his teammate Nicolai Kjaergaard to win the race.
Monger will hope that this is the first race of many as he aims to make his way to the top flight of motorsport.
