Bottas: 'I enjoyed the adrenaline rush'
- Jake Williams-Smith
Valtteri Bottas says he enjoyed the adrenaline rush his qualifying performance gave him, finishing sixth-tenths of a second clear of teammate Lewis Hamilton to take his third pole position of the season.
The Finn stormed to his second straight pole position in some fashion, leaving Hamilton some distance off of his track-record pole time of a 1:15.406s. The Mercedes duo made it another front row lockout ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
"I really enjoyed it," said Bottas immediately after qualifying.
"I enjoy the adrenaline rush you get from those laps. Practice Three was difficult with the spin but I forgot about that and moved on.
"The season has started well. I feel better and better in the car so I look forward to tomorrow."
With the long run down to the first corner tomorrow, the pole-sitter will be hoping he gets a better get away from the start than he has done at the past two races, with the Circuit de Catalunya being the longest run to the first corner on the calendar.
A strong start could be crucial with both Mercedes' cars appearing to have the edge on race pace over their rivals in red.
