Michael Schumacher was "anxious" to manage Mick
Willi Weber believes Michael Schumacher would’ve managed his son Mick’s career, had he not been tragically injured in his 2013 skiing accident as the youngster makes his rise up through the motorsport ranks.
Mick won the European Formula 3 title in 2018 and is now racing for Prema Racing in 2019 Formula 2 Championship with the Ferrari Academy driver claiming reverse pole on his debut in Bahrain. The 20-year-old also made his F1 testing debut with Ferrari at the in-season test in Bahrain as well as testing with Alfa Romeo Racing in the same week.
With the young driver looking destined to follow in his footsteps Weber, Michael’s former manager admitted that the German would’ve wanted to manage his son’s career.
"Michael was anxious to bring him into Formula 1 and to manage him, as I used to manage him,” Weber told Motorsport.com.
“That would have been the end result of the whole story, he would have loved that.
"Michael knows everything.
"He knows which teams to talk to, he knows how it all works, because he made all the experiences himself.
"If Michael would still stand by his side, it would have a completely different symbolism to it.”
