Max Verstappen isn’t one to make predictions. With the RB21 yet to hit the track, he feels it's too early to comment on the balance of power. However, the four-time world champion does admit that he’s not entering the 2025 season as the favourite. The Dutchman also believes that Lando Norris should stay more positive in 2025. The McLaren driver is known to beat himself up after making mistakes.

According to many, McLaren, the reigning Constructors' Champion, is seen as the team most likely to claim top honours this season. Verstappen acknowledges McLaren's confidence heading into the new year. "Sure, they were very strong after the first seven races. And if they know what they're doing, they should have a very strong season again," Verstappen remarked.

With a tightly contested field expected in 2025, Lando Norris will need to be more consistent and reduce mistakes compared to 2024. A Dutch journalist pointed out that Verstappen has proven he can clinch the title even with a car that's not the best on the grid, as he did last season at Norris' expense.

'Norris has to stay positive about himself'

The journalist then referenced Norris' own claim from 2024, where he stated that he had proven his ability. However, the media representative argued that this didn't hold much weight, as it was Verstappen who ultimately beat him. In response, the Dutchman defended his colleague and friend during the interview, showing support for Norris' skills despite the results. "You have to stay positive about yourself, you shouldn't start slagging yourself off," he said.

Verstappen also added: "I am happy how I performed last year."
