Piastri knows how to beat Norris and Verstappen in title race

Oscar Piastri is facing his third season in Formula 1 and knows there is a chance of winning the world title. Two years in a row he fell short of really getting involved in the title race, but that will change in 2025, if he has any say in the matter.

''I think to be honest across the two seasons I've had, the story has been a little bit different across both seasons. Obviously last season I think I made life difficult for myself in qualifying a lot of the year, but I felt like I improved myself as a driver in a lot of other areas and I was able to show what I'm capable of in a lot of other areas,'' Piastri stated during the press event in London to media present, including GPblog.

''So it's about improving across the board. I think making sure I qualify a bit better is probably a higher priority, but I think there's things that I can improve that will help me not just in qualifying but in general.''

How Piastri wants to beat the competition

''So I think that's what I need to do. I know that on the weekends where I get everything together and put my best foot forward that I can be the best out there. And it's just about trying to make sure I put that best foot forward every time I'm on track.''

Oscar Piastri was beaten by Lando Norris in his first two seasons, but was already closer to his British teammate in 2024. Norris' title fight did not help Piastri either, considering he got updates later throughout the year. In 2025, the title is a possibility for both, so the Australian will need to strike straight away.

The third year in Formula 1 is often seen as the season when a driver really comes into his own. Franz Tost, for instance, was always keen on keeping drivers in the team for three years, in order to accurately size up their talent. That Piastri is fast, he has already shown that. Now he needs to take the final step in consistency to beat his teammate and other opponents like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
